Concrete Curing Boxes
Curing boxes for concrete provide an ideal environment for preserving the optimal curing conditions for concrete test cylinders and cubes. These portable storage and transport containers provide a simple and economical solution for maintaining test samples within compliance with industry specifications, such as ASTM C31 and AASHTO T-23. Since the initial stages of curing concrete is so crucial for the development of the concrete’s ultimate strength and durability, maintaining storage conditions of test cylinders and cubes to known specifications, is crucial for reliable test results. In order to produce reliable tests, samples must be maintained within specifications so all tests are carried out in the same manner, and likewise all samples must be stored and transported in the same manner. This ensures accurate and reliable results from which strip times and ultimate strength of the actual structure can be determined.
Concrete curing boxes available from Humboldt comply with these standards and are available in several sizes and configurations, which include heating and cooling functionality, as well as models with just a heating function. Which models you choose depend on your needs for the number of test samples you need, as well as what the environmental conditions are where the curing box will be used.
All curing boxes, which comply with industry specifications feature these components:
- A water-tight, strong and durable box structure that can hold water without leaking and protect the test samples from breakage.
- Provide portability of the test samples from the construction site to the testing facility.
- The walls of the box must be insulated to a maintain a consistent temperature and humidity, which is crucial for proper curing.
- Provide heating and cooling or just heating to maintain the consistent temperature and humidity within the box.
- Provide a lockable lid to secure the box from opening during transport.
Available from Humboldt:
Thermocure Portable Curing Boxes
These curing boxes are available in two models: Deluxe and Economy. Both units are similar in size and features except the Deluxe model (H-2968) features cooling and heating control of the recirculating water within the unit, while the Economy model (H-2967) provides only a water heating function Both models feature a lockable lid and a removable, galvanized steel bottom rack, which provides a stable base for test samples, as well as provides better circulation of water for temperature control. The Deluxe model provides temperature set buttons and indicating lights to show heating or cooling mode with a digital readout of water temperature. The Economy model provides an adjustable heating control unit provided by a 1500 watt heater (cooling is accomplished by freshwater circulation only), with a dial thermometer for temperature readings.
Thermocure boxes are lightweight and portable. The insulated, rustproof, plastic containers provide storage of up to
twenty-two 6" x 12" (152 x 302mm) or forty-six 4" x 8" (102 x 203mm) concrete cylinders for proper initial curing and protected storage within standard humidity/temperature conditions. Cylinders can be stored at 73° ±3°F (23° ±2°C) over an ambient range of -10°–100°F (-23°–37.8°C). Lifting handles are provided on each end for easy transport when empty.
Perfa-Cure Concrete Curing Boxes
These curing boxes provide a smaller, more portable design while still providing compliance with both ASTM C31 and AASHTO T-23 specifications. Available in three different models Perfa-Cure provide an economical and highly-portable solution to concrete test sample storage and transport.
The ELITE Extreme Curing Box (Heat and Cooling) (H-2965A) features a 165 qt. Grizzly, hard-sided cooler with a continuous circulating fan and Hi/Lo thermometer (ASTM C1064) to monitor temperatures. The Elite Box features a thermostatically-controlled heating and cooling unit that maintains temperature within the box. It is a perfect solution for all seasons. The Elite model accommodates up to (10) 6" x 12" cylinders molds or (48) 4" x 8" cylinder molds with flat lids.
The ELITE Series Curing Box (Heat Only) (H-2966A) features the same 165 qt. Grizzly, hard-sided cooler with a continuous circulating fan and Hi/Lo thermometer (ASTM C1064) to monitor temperatures. The Elite (Heat Only) model features a thermostatically-controlled heating unit that maintains temperature within the box. This model is ideally suited for curing samples in fall/winter seasons. The Elite (Heat Only) model accommodates up to (12) 6" x 12" cylinders molds or (50) 4" x 8" cylinder molds with flat lids.
The New, Mini Curing Box features a smaller, 75qt box. The Mini Curing Box (H-2963A) features a thermostatically-controlled heating unit that maintains temperature within the box. This model is ideally suited for curing samples in fall/winter seasons. The Mini Curing Box accommodates up to (5) 6" x 12" cylinders molds or (17) 4" x 8" cylinder molds with flat lids.
